Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that removes hair follicles from one part of the body, called the ‘donor site’, to a bald or balding part of the body known as the ‘recipient site’. The technique is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness. In this minimally invasive procedure, grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding (like the back of the head) are transplanted to the bald scalp.
In hair transplantation procedures; FUE or FUT methods, which can leave a slight scar on the neck, are applied. In the FUE method, the hair follicles taken from the nape are taken one by one and transplanted to the missing areas, while in the FUT method, the area containing the hair on the nape is removed as a skin line. Healthy hair is taken from the back of the head and the sides of the person to be transplanted as a donor area. Factors such as the characteristics of the hair, the thickness of the hair, and its wavy also affect the result of the procedure.
After analyzing the hair and scalp of the person to be transplanted, it is decided which method will be preferred. Although the FUE method is generally preferred because it does not leave any traces, it may also be preferable to apply the FUT method in rare cases. In some cases, hair transplantation can also be applied to increase hair density only in areas where hair is thinning.
